In July 2011 Cruz was loaned to CE Sabadell FC, freshly promoted to division two.〔(El Granada cede a Álex Cruz al Sabadell (Granada loans Álex Cruz to Sabadell) ); Marca, 25 July 2013 〕 In the following summer, after featuring scarcely throughout the campaign, he joined UCAM Murcia CF in the same predicament.〔(Alex Cruz, última incorporación (Alex Cruz, last signing) ); UCAM Murcia's official website, 1 September 2012 〕
On 2 September 2013 Cruz signed for UE Llagostera, after being released by Granada.〔(El Llagostera tanca la plantilla amb l´arribada d´Álex Cruz (Granada finishes squad after the arrival of Álex Cruz) ); Diari de Girona, 2 September 2013 〕 In June of the following year he was released, and moved to Burgos CF also in the third tier on 8 August.〔(Álex Cruz, nuevo jugador del Burgos (Álex Cruz, new player of Burgos) ); Ideal, 8 August 2014 〕
